How I Beat An Eating Disorder

Welcome back, friends! I’m super excited to be back on the interwebs with fresh, new content for you all. Taking a break in August was an absolute necessity in order for me to honour my need for rest. Trigger warning.

In today’s video I get vulnerable and share my personal journey with disordered eating and self-acceptance. I actually posted about this on my Instagram stories a while back and got some interesting feedback

In this video you will learn:

1:36: How I got to the point of viewing my body as undesirable

5:30: Go deeper into how I went from throwing my food up to obsessively controlling my body and experience

16:20 Learn about how a skydiving experience in Mauritius pushed me to love and accept my body no matter what the scale said

18:16 What prioritizing joy looks like now

I struggled with disordered eating for a good portion of my life and had practically based my entire existence in my body on weight. When I eventually became vegan, it transformed into a tool to further control my weight and body dysmorphia. If you’re looking for easy, vegan meal ideas, my Budda Bowl Recipe is a great place to start.

Positive body affirmations saved me from, essentially, myself. I focused on that and said to myself “whether or not this is my body I want, this is the body I have, and this is the body I must love.” If you’re ready to experience positive changes in yourself, I’d suggest you watch my How to Love Yourself video!

In the past, working out used to serve a weight loss purpose but now I work out because it makes my body feel strong, gets my blood pumping and helps me sleep better at night. This beginner Yoga Flow to Alleviate Stress helps me do that.

In conclusion, I have made the decision that my life would no longer be governed by my weight. Perfection isn’t real and we can only go for the best version of ourselves

Have you or any of your loved ones struggled with disordered eating? What was the root of the problem and how was it overcome?
